Collection · written 17 June 1961 · released 16 September 2015
Why this matters
About 2,500 daily intelligence briefings written for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, starting with the President's Intelligence Checklist first delivered on 17 June 1961. For decades these were among the most closely held documents in government. Read in sequence, they follow the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam and the Six-Day War exactly as the President saw them each morning.
