Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) filings
Database · written 1938 · released 2006
Why this matters
Since 1938 people who lobby or do PR in the U.S. for foreign governments and parties have had to register, and their filings show contracts, payments and the 'informational materials' they spread. The search portal is awkward, but the filings are a direct record of foreign influence. Enforcement has risen sharply since 2017.
