United States Army
Analysis and Assessment of Gateway Process
Report · written 9 June 1983 · released September 2003
Why this matters
A 1983 US Army assessment, written by Lt. Col. Wayne McDonnell, of the Monroe Institute's 'Gateway' technique, which uses binaural audio to induce altered states. It tries to explain the method in terms of physics, holograms and consciousness, and shows how seriously parts of the defense establishment took psychic and altered-state research during the Cold War. It sits in CREST alongside the files of the Army and DIA remote-viewing programs.
