Majestic 12: FBI investigation of the MJ-12 documents

Case file · written 1988 · released April 2011

Why this matters

When documents describing a secret 'Majestic 12' UFO-recovery committee began circulating in the late 1980s, the FBI looked into whether classified information had leaked. The file records the Air Force Office of Special Investigations telling the Bureau that the document was 'completely bogus'. It is the primary-source answer to one of the most persistent UFO hoaxes.
