Results of a Search for Records Concerning the 1947 Crash Near Roswell, New Mexico (GAO/NSIAD-95-187)
Report · written 28 July 1995 · released 28 July 1995
Why this matters
Congress's auditors were asked to find every government record on Roswell. They found that some Roswell Army Air Field administrative and outgoing-message records from the period had been destroyed without proper authority. The search itself is the story: a 26-page audit of a legend, with a full PDF on GAO's site.
